Aiming to improve the academic achievement and well-being of Latinx Antioch students in mental health programs, recruit and sustain Latinx students, faculty, and staff, create and empower the Latinx community within Antioch University, and encourage its students, faculty, and community partners to be active members of their Latinx community, obtain on-campus leadership roles, and embrace Latin America’s rich culture and history.
We partner with community stakeholders to promote evidence-based social justice-focused service, education, training, mentorship, and research that promote meaningful and sustainable improvements in health in culturally responsive ways.
The Latinx Mental Health Institute provides leadership for community-engaged research and service through capacity building and authentic partnerships with community stakeholders to promote impactful improvements in the health and well-being of Latinx communities in Washington, California, and North Carolina state, regionally, and nationally.
We will bring about sustainable changes in health through innovative community-engaged research, service, mentorship, and training opportunities for students and faculty, drawing upon the multidisciplinary scholarship from the Antioch University campuses nationwide.
Building on and deepening our community partnerships and the university’s expertise in behavioral health, the Latinx Mental Health Institute creates a rich environment for nurturing the next generation of leaders who will respond to current and emerging health and behavioral health issues facing their communities. All efforts are based on principles of social justice, human rights, and inclusion respective to intersections of one’s cultural Latinx narrative.
