Latinx/e Mental Health and Social Justice Symposiums
Each year, the Latinx Mental Health & Social Justice Institute at Antioch University organizes this event around Indigenous Peoples’ Day, National Coming Out Day, and Hispanic Heritage Month.
This annual virtual event bring together attendees from around the world to create a sacred space for diversity and conversation within the Latinx/e community and to recognize the strengths and contributions of Latinx/e professionals.

The 5th Annual Latinx Mental Health and Social Justice Virtual Symposium was on September 25th – 26th, 2025. The theme was “Immigration: Hope, Community and Resistance,” and the Keynote Speaker was Dr. Mariela Nuñez-Janes.
The 4th Annual Latinx Mental Health and Social Justice Virtual Symposium was on October 9 & 10, 2024. The theme was “Migration Journeys: Stories from Our Community.”
The 3rd Annual Latinx Mental Health and Social Justice Symposium was held on September 27th and 28th, 2023. The theme was ” Voices of Power Through Resiliency and Strength.”
The entire symposium was held online and featured 38 presenters over two days. There were both an English and a Spanish language track of presentations. You can access all these wonderful presentations in the playlist below.
The 2nd Annual Latinx Mental Health and Social Justice Symposium was held in fall 2022. The theme was ” Finding Your Voice Within the Intersections of Our Identities.”

The first Latinx Mental Health and Social Justice Symposium took place on October 11th, 2021, during Indigenous People’s Day, National Coming Out Day, and Hispanic Heritage Month. It was a great event that was possible thanks to the amazing guest speakers and more than 80 online attendees. We also reached over 2,000 Facebook views!
Our 2021 Symposium consisted of sessions in Spanish and in English, including a panel presentation on the topic: At the intersection of successful Stories of Latinx Professionals: Challenges, accomplishments, and recommendations. We were also honored with the participation of our keynote speaker Dr. Edil Torres Rivera and his remarkable talk Remembering our Ancestors.Learn more here.
